Yale Admits
6.4 Percent Regular, 9.6 Percent Overall
Yale received 19,323 applications for admission
to the Class of 2011, compared to 21,101 last year. This represents a
decline of 9.7 percent.
1,860 applicants, or 9.6 percent, were accepted. Of the 17,937
applicants who applied Regular Decision, 1,151 applicants, or
6.4 percent, were admitted. 859 applicants were
waitlisted. Early Action Admit Rate Increases
Two Percent to 19.7 Percent
Yale received 3,594 early decision applications this year,
signifying a 12 percent drop from last year's number of 4,084. 709
students, or 19.7 percent, were admitted this year, while 61
percent of applicants were deferred and 18 percent were rejected.
Although the acceptance rate increased this year, the number of
students accepted into the class actually decreased. Yale expects
an early action yield rate of approx. 88 percent.
