Cornell Overall Admit Rate at 24.7%
6,927 students were admitted out of 28,097 applicants, for a 24.7 percent acceptance rate. Last year's overall admit rate was 26.1 percent. Total applications increased 15 percent, which is the second year in a row that Cornell has seen applications increase by double digits.
Cornell received 2,849 early decision applicants and admitted 1,110, for an early acceptance rate of 38.7 percent. Cornell received 25,248 regular applications and admitted 5,817, for a regular acceptance rate of 23 percent.
Minority students, including Pacific Islanders, Native Americans, Asian-Americans, African-Americans, Latinos and other underrepresented minorities represented 35.9 percent of the admits.
25 percent of the admits come from New York state, 21.4 percent from the Mid-Atlantic states, 10.3 percent from the New England region, 6 percent from the Southeast, 9.4 percent from the Midwest, 5.4 percent from the southwestern and Mountain states and 13.1 percent from far western states. Another 1.1 percent of the accepted students come from U.S. territories and protectorates, and the remaining 8.3 percent are international students.
EARLY DECISION
Cornell received 2,849 applications, representing an increase of 11% compared to the previous year. 19.1% of the early admits are legacies. 8.4% of the early admits are underrepresented minorities. Approximately 36% of the incoming freshman class was filled through early decision. |
